So I got curious to what the D in D-Day stands for. With D-Day being one of the bloodiest days in history I thought it would mean death day. Boy was I wrong. The initial D in D-Day has had various meanings in the past, while more recently it has obtained the meaning of "Day" itself, thereby creating the phrase "Day-Day", or
"Day of Days". On Tuesday, 6 June 1944 the Canadians, British and the United States invaded the beaches or Normandy, France hopeing to take over France. The invation of D-Day was a success but it came with a huge price. Over 2,500 soldiers died on that single day. The majority of them from Omaha Beach where one of the U.S. ships landed.
